On 5 February 2011 I was just here for six months, half time also. Time for a short review:
On 5 August 2010 I am from Hanover flew to Paris and from there to me until now known only from reports and pictures continent. Arriving in Togo for the first time a month working in a summer school and introductory seminar. Everything was new, exciting, unknown, maybe some a little strange. In September arrival in my host family and beginning work in Envol project. Initially, some Difficulties with work on the project for mentally disabled children and young people. Dealing with the children much more difficult and the establishment was faced with severe financial problems.
The months to work, my birthday and finally, the Ghana trip. In between, always spend interesting experiences in Togo everyday life, but also doubts about the decision a year in Togo. Fortunately, always outweigh the positive experiences.
I often asked myself how well the year would have been if I had completed my civil service in Germany. Certainly would have this year of Impressions and experiences inserted but certainly not as much as my year here in Togo.
For example, I have become really clear is how incredibly comfortable we live.

Before I went to Togo, I did know about some of the many problems faced by many African states, but I was able to produce only during my stay in Togo, a real reference to some.

Somehow there has always lacked sustainability. Perhaps it would be better to seriously deal with an issue, as in 15 minutes everything just to touch on and deal only superficially. Consequently, we knew then, not in everything, but would have reported a significantly longer half-life in the audience.

Since, under the financial means variety, such as field trips and the like, everyday operation is not possible, sometimes quite boring. Especially for the volunteer in Project, it is not always easy to find a job. The teachers in the project, all work for a long time here and will continue to work so when I go home again. In short, as a volunteer you can at best as an aid for teachers are available. As the lessons but also quite possible without the cooperation of volunteers, you have to do is often not too much. Morning, sweep the yard and clean the teeth with the children already are the largest of the tasks one has to do as a volunteer.
I'm still convinced that the Envol project is very important, but you must be a volunteer goes into the Envol project be aware that it takes not too important. Of course, the children are always happy to see new faces and I always goes to the heart when I see how excited they are when I come in the morning to work, but I see myself for the next half year, not against too great challenges .
