Kampala Kampala
Now I am much longer than planned away from home. Fort Portal, I visited still do not know but I was over Easter in Jinja, where Paul and Sabrina, two more solivol volunteers who work and live, and work this week in the YSA bureau. Hoping that we will actually go on the weekend to Soroti, I'm using the faster Internet for research and reporting and for developing and fixing billing and Buchfuehrungsrichtlinien for RPWRD. These are namely either not yet or no one can tell me where they are located. But since received many donations, wishes can organize a summary document on the subject, taking in all the insight. In addition to pressing Materialeinkaeufen and visit projects of the other volunteers, the Goethe Centre in Kampala, an Indian temple and the National Theatre and I have Lale concrete idea of our cooperation significantly. Now it is burning under my fingers, the test here by Lale learned production, a hand cream to quickly group in Bushenyi and propose to the women. In Jinja, I met Sarah, a young woman from Uganda who cares full time for street boys in Jinja and me very good tips to improve our Chain production has given. In the National Theater and a visit to the Rainbow House of Hope Uganda, the NGO, working in another solivol volunteer from our group, Philip, I was able to make another very useful contacts particularly with regard to the proposed cultural center.
Personally, I am also therefore possible soon back down to Rukararwe because the things that I want to do all add up and the noise and dirt of Kampala and in my opinion, very questionable lifestyle of volunteers in Jinja (clubbing, swimming pools, expensive Bars, maid, living in buildings that look like colonial mansions and the like) have a kind of nostalgia for the rest Rukararwes and especially the continuation my language teaching cause. Nevertheless, the time here in the city very economical and easy to clean and put in a lighted room in which running water out of the wall is coming and you can take a shower for me after five weeks is a pretty nice luxury. So my feeling at a cold shower did so quite quickly relative. Now I have the feeling that I will suffer much more under the "return culture shock" when I'm back in the German society of excess, as I touched the little bit less comfort here.
I just am sick for the first time. It got me the incredibly insidious and worrying tropical disease "slight cold" when I was at the Jinja in the rain soaked Nilfall complete. So far I am in top shape physically, which in many fruits, the sun and direct access to medicinal herbs in Rukararwe should not surprise.
The Nile, I Robert, met a 28 year old Kenyan from a border town with Uganda. He works for a rafting company. Half his face was swollen, cracked a lip when he asked me whether I did not want to go rafting for $ 120. He told that he did not earn excessively, but the day before the raft had an accident. I have entertained me longer with him and thanked for the friendly offer rafting without accepting it.
soon and all a good time
Desiree
